At least 2,000 New Brunswick teachers are expected to attend a professional learning conference at the Moncton Coliseum on Friday.
Provincial Teachers Association (NBTA) president George Daley says various guest speakers will cover such topics as autism, mental health and indigenous issues.
“It’s a pretty interesting array (of speakers). The council committees will always look at some of the more prominent issues that we are facing in education at the time,” he notes.
The speakers will include psychologist Jeremy Bennett who will discuss mental health issues, aboriginal advocate Eddie Robinson will address the truth and reconciliation process and journalist Ron Suskind will talk about raising his autistic son.
The conference is held annually but Daley adds every fourth year is a big event bringing together elementary, middle and high school teachers.
