A reminder for you procrastinators.
Today’s the deadline to have your 2018 personal income tax returns in to Revenue Canada.
Ann-Marie Jenkins of CRA says the deadline is at the stroke of midnight.
“You still have some time to get that tax return filed today and if you’re self-employed, you actually have until June 15th to file your tax return.”
She says filing your return in time also helps avoid interest and penalties you may owe.
It ensures you’ll get benefits and credit payments, like the Canada Child benefit and GST credit.
Jenkins says some people may not file because they have an amount owing.
“However, they should still file on time to make sure they avoid any late filing penalty.”
Jenkins says if someone can’t pay the full amount owing they should still file on time and a payment plan may be worked out.
