February is nearly gone and March 20th will see the first day of spring, at least on the calendar.
However, it looks like the actual spring-like weather won’t be here until mid-April.
Nadine Hinds-Powell is a meteorologist with The Weather Network and says winter is far from over around here.
“We have to wait a little while longer before we flip the switch and get into more consistent and warmer spring-like conditions, as a matter of fact, next week looks like its going to be an active period for us, especially in the southern sections of the province.” stated Hinds-Powell.
The forecast model shows although we will not get a large number of spring storms, some subtropical moisture could be trapped resulting in heavy rainfall.
Hinds-Powell says “The only caveat or downside to that is once we get into warmer conditions and if we are expecting it to jump right into spring conditions toward April the melt will be a concern for those living along the Saint John River once again”.
