Tens of thousands of Canadians will be passing through airports over the next two weeks which is the busiest travel period of the year.
Toronto Pearson, the nation’s busiest air hub, can expect 1.9 million travellers between now and January 3rd.
Lauren Reimer with Expedia.ca says most Canadians will be travelling within the country to visit family and friends over the holidays.
“Domestic travel is still very strong this year as a result of the weaker Canadian dollar but we’re still seeing strong travel to the U.S.,” she notes.
Reimer says the most popular U.S. destination continues to be Las Vegas followed by Orlando, New York, Los Angeles and Phoenix.
The Mexican resorts of Cancun and Puerto Vallarta are the top sunshine getaways for Canadians.
