Women’s varsity hockey will be reinstated at UNB starting in the 2018-2019 season. This follows an agreement reached between university, the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission and Sylvia (Bryson) Dooley.
A Labour and Employment Board ruling last March compelled UNB to reinstate the women’s varsity hockey team. UNB then applied for a judicial review of that ruling.
A task force was also formed and recommended a settlement conference be held to resolve the disputed issues.
UNB has agreed to reinstate women’s varsity hockey starting in the 2018-2019 season, revisit its gender equity policy and withdraw its application for a judicial review.
