A boil water order is now in effect for parts of east Saint John following a water main break this morning in the Champlain Heights area.
These are the affected areas:
If you have been affected by this boil water order, you will be receiving a hand-delivered notice according to the city.
The cause of the water main break is the contraction and expansion of the cast iron pipe which is believed to be about 150 years old.
East Saint Johners under this boil order should not drink the tap water without boiling it first. Bring the water to a rolling boil for at least a minute and let it cool before using. Or, you can use bottled.
The City says it’s working with the Department of Health and and they will let us know when the order is lifted.
