One concerned parent would like to see the District Education Council put a long term planning process involving 7 inner city Saint John schools on hold.
The Anglophone South District Education Council announced earlier this fall a process to examine the schools uptown and in the north end looking at possible closures, new construction or additions.
Mike Wills is the former chair of the M. Gerald Teed Parent School Support Committee and says the parents and community were blindsided by this news in September.
He says they want the DEC to hit the pause button on this. He adds they understand that hard decisions have to be made with decreasing enrollment, ageing building and money is an issue.
DEC Chair Rob Fowler told us that any decisions are up to 5 years away. A public meeting is coming up tonight at Millidgeville North School at 630pm.
