The New Brunswick economy is forecast to grow by only .8 per cent next year according to the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council. That’s still better than .5 per cent growth this year.
Senior economist David Chaundy says the province will benefit from federal stimulus spending and a growing U.S. economy.
The Fall Atlantic Report points out since 2008, a growing gap when it comes to employment between Atlantic Canada and the rest of the country has emerged. One reason cited is slower population growth in this part of the country.
He warns slower growth in Atlantic Canada’s population will contribute to weaker employment trends but there will be still be modest growth in wages.
