Two cancer charities in Canada are joining forces.
The Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation announced plans to combine in order to have a greater impact on research and support programs.
Canadian Cancer Society Board of Directors Chair Robert Lawrie says it’s clear they are stronger together and the merger will be beneficial for all Canadians.
He goes on to say it’ll improve performance, reduce costs, and increase opportunities while allowing more funds to be directed to cancer research and support.
The amalgamated organization will continue under the Canadian Cancer Society banner while CBCF key programs and activities will continue.
By 2030, the number of cancer cases is expected to rise by 40%, which will bring an increasing demand for services, programs, and research.
The proposed merger is expected to be complete by February 1st of next year.
