Day two of the first-degree murder and arson trial for 18-year-old Devin Morningstar is underway at Moncton provincial court.
The Crown called Marissa Mandy as their next witness, the younger sister of Patria Mandy, a neighbour who testified yesterday.
Mandy said her sister called her during the night of December 16th saying she was scared of what was happening next door.
Mandy went to her sister’s home around 4am when fire trucks were arriving and took her sister’s kids back to her house.
The Crown next called another neighbour, Ashley Katzel-Leblanc, who lives on the other side of the triplex.
Katzel-Leblanc said she was smoking that night with Marissa Shephard but added they weren’t friends.
Around 12:30am, Katzel-Leblanc said her son’s screaming woke her up and she noticed smoke and called 911.
Testimony will continue this afternoon following a lunch break.
