Canadian Blood Services are on the search for new donors in Charlotte County.
A Community Blood Drive is being held in St. Stephen today, and at least 44 new donors are needed.
Territory Manager Jacqueline Alain says they are very appreciative for the dedicated donors they do have, but it’s not enough support. “We do want to encourage new donors to take this opportunity to come in and donate as well. It’s a very simple process, we want people to be seventeen years of age or older, be in general good health, and have some identification before they come in.”
Alain says it’s also very important for donors to drink lots of water and eat a good size meal if possible before they come in to donate blood. She says they are specifically trying to get A and O blood types today, but they are welcoming any blood types, and you don’t need to know your blood type ahead of time.
The Community Blood Drive will be open from 1-4pm at the St. Stephen Legion, and again this evening from 5:30-8:30pm.
