Dramatic and positive developments.
That’s how the St. Stephen Aces Jr. A hockey team describes Scottie Greene’s recovery over the last week.
The hockey player suffered a severe head injury in a car accident almost a month ago, on September 14th, and remains in hospital. Two other players were also involved in the rollover on Route 3 outside St. Stephen, but they were released from hospital within a few hours.
The team says Greene has gone from non-verbal communication to being able to speak for long periods of time, recognizes family and friends, and is now able to walk with the aid of therapists.
Once he is able, the team says Scottie will be returning home to Newfoundland to continue a challenging rehabilitation process.
The Aces say the financial burden has been tremendous for the family, and the support from the community has been a huge help in his recovery.
Scottie Greene t-shirts will continue to be sold at home games for $20, with all proceeds going directly to the family. If you would like a t-shirt shipped, contact dmshorne@gmail.com.
A Mark Stone Ottawa Senators jersey is also up for grabs. The team is selling tickets, and the draw will take place at the home game on October 22nd, against the Woodstock Slammers.
