Health Canada is reminding everyone to take sensible precautions when cooking a turkey this Thanksgiving weekend.
They list four safety steps to follow including Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill.
You’re advised to wash your hands and every surface and utensils touched by raw or thawing turkey and its juices.
Additionally, you’re advised to store your turkey in a leak proof bag or container, and should thaw it in a fridge or cold water.
Health Canada says turkeys should be cooked to at least 185 degrees fahrenheit.
Finally, leftovers should be refrigerated within two hours of cooking, and all should be used right away or frozen immediately for future use.
