Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s legacy is leaving Canadians divided, in the wake of his retirement from politics this week.
39% of Canadians believe his failures will outweigh his accomplishments, with a quarter voting the opposite.
Canadians said Harper’s two biggest failures were pulling out of the Kyoto Protocol, and muzzling government scientists with 27% and 26% of the votes respectively.
In terms of his greatest accomplishments, 36% chose the reduction of the GST from seven to five percent, and a one in four chose balanced budgets.
When it comes to how history will judge him, 23% said outstanding or above average, 29% said average, and 43% chose below average or poor.
It is worth noting the results change dramatically depending on which political party those polled supported.
