Today marks 45 years since Neil Armstrong uttered his famous first words on the surface of the moon.
Saint John artist Norman Jackson was so touched by that historic event, and the passing of John F Kennedy, he painted a work called “In This Decade”, which shows Kennedy’s spirit greeting the Armstrong as he lands. Jackson says gave the painting that title because there were so many memorable events.
Jackson tells us his painting has been on display in the lobby at the Neil Armstrong Air Center since 1970.
Jackson, now in his 70s, has completed several other paintings concerned with historical events, most recently one commemorating the fallen RCMP officers in Moncton.
