An evacuation of St. John the Baptist-King Edward School as a fire broke out in the kitchen area of the second floor causing heavy smoke.
Platoon Chief Brian Wilson of the Saint John Fire Department explains the building doesn’t have a lot of windows on the side where the fire began, which meant a lot of the smoke was locked up.
Wilson says everyone made it out of the building okay, including the kids from the child care centre.
The fire investigator on the scene in the South end doing a preliminary investigation on what caused the fire.
