Hurricane Arthur hammering Saint John as evidenced by the widespread power outages, toppled trees and washed out roads left in its wake.
Doug Mercer of Environment Canada says the Port City got a good soaking with around 75 millimetres of rain. He tells us many communities around the province received close to 100mm of rain and says St. Stephen had the highest recorded rainfall in the province with 143mm and the runner-up was Noonan with 140.
Environment Canada says Saint John received winds gusting around 60-70 kilometres per hour with the Weather Network reporting winds of more than 80. The highest records winds in the province were at Caraquet with 98 km/hr and Fredericton in second place with 93 km/hr.
