Fusion is rebranding itself with a new look and new strategy to become known as more than just an organisation in the uptown for the under 40’s.
There has been concern of late about the number of young people leaving the city for employment out west and Fusion Chair Amy Webber tells CHSJ News that could turn out to be a real problem for economic growth down the road if there are not enough skilled workers in Saint John. She’s worried about the city becoming known as a place just for old people.
Webber argues the guidance counsellors in high schools should be doing a better of job of guiding students into the right career paths where the jobs are.
As for those Saint Johnners who move out west, Webber warns if they put down roots and start families, the chances of them moving back here are slim to none.
Fusion is marking its tenth anniversary and will be embarking on a big recruitment drive for new members who don’t necessarily live in the uptown.
