The Public Service Alliance also called for a national inquiry into missing and murdered Aboriginal women and staged a demonstration as part of its convention in Saint John.
P-SAC member Tanna Pirie-Wilson is from the Tobique First Nation as well as being a member of fthe union’s Race Relations Committee and she argues national inquiry would show the affected families that someone cares.
She also says the powers that be may not have knowledge of what Aboriginal women go through, how they’re treated and misrepresented. The RCMP estimate almost 12 hundred Aboriginal women have been reported missing or been murdered over the last thirty years.
