Just in time for Father’s Day is a new online tool that helps men make small changes to improve their health. The tool is called ‘You Check’, which asks men to answer 18 questions about their lifestyle. It then submits recommendations on how the person can be healthier. The tool also assesses a man’s risk for seven illnessess including diabetes, heart disease, depression, erectile dysfunction and prostate cancer. Program Manager for the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation, Joe Rachert, says the tool is the first of its kind online. He says, “This tool is one of those small steps that a guy can do, to get healthier. And to understand their health, most guys are a reactive bunch rather than a proactive bunch to our health and so this tool is kind of that first step for a lot of guys they will be introduced to health concepts.” Work is underway to complete a similar tool for women.
