Police sending out a few reminders so your stuff doesn’t get stolen.
In the past month, St. Stephen RCMP reporting over twenty incidents of minor theft in Charlotte County, about 4 of those were from unlocked vehicles.
If that number seems low to you, it’s probably because many other people didn’t report their stolen items to police.
Cpl. Jayson Hansen with the St. Stephen RCMP tells us, some people will readily report crime to Town Hall, or other agencies, and then wonder why police aren’t investigating crimes they don’t know about.
Hansen also says officers do NOT monitor social media for reports of crime.
He adds, along with locking up your valuables, if you are a victim of theft, you need to report it to the police station.
In a poll conducted by Tide News, we asked if, up until this point, you normally lock up your valuables at night?
86 % of you said Yes, they lock everything up.
7 % of the vote said they don’t lock their vehicle, but lock their home with valuables inside.
Another 7 % of those polled said they don’t lock up anything, and don’t believe anyone would try to steal from them.
