A 43-year-old Saint John man will be spending three and a half years behind bars for the masked robbery of the CIBC on the city’s West side.
Judge Alfred Brien sentencing William Steen in provincial court for the robbery which took place back in January of this year. Steen ended up making off with $450 from the bank.
The court hearing from defense lawyer Jeremy Erickson that Steen was struggling with drug addication and was under major financial stress. The defense and prosecution making a joint recommendation of 42 months in jail total which was accepted by the judge.
In addition to the prison time, Steen is also subject to a weapons prohibition and DNA order.
