The 44 year old woman who was hit in the head by a broken bat at Fenway Park Friday night is in serious condition but is expected to survive and faces a long recovery.
At the provincial high school track and field championships at the Canada Games Stadium, Victoria LeBlanc of Saint John High set records in both the senior girl’s 100 metre hurdles and the 400 metre hurdles……Fredericton High School won the “AAA” championship.

The Sea Dogs chose highly touted 15 year old centre Joseph Veleno as the first overall pick in the “Q” League draft. The Kirkland, Quebec, native had 16 goals and 52 points in 41 games while playing in the Quebec Midget “AAA” League. He also scored four goals and ten points in six games for Team Quebec at the Canada Winter Games. Saint John Vitos goalie Jacob Stewart was selected in the third round by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
