If you happen to spot what looks like a body in the Petitcodiac River this week, it may not be what it appears to be.
Area firefighters have been doing water rescue training this week, using a 185 pound life size mannequin, that was wearing a lifejacket.
But while Dieppe firefighters were doing the exercise in one area of the river, with strong currents, the mannequin went under, and didn’t resurface.
Firefighters expect it will come up over the next few days. If you see it, you’re asked to call 911, and crews will investigate and recover it.
This serves as a reminder of how dangerous and unpredictable the currents in the Petiticodiac River can be.
