The three levels of government along with CN Rail are partnering to replace a culvert at the end of Jonathan Creek at a total pricetag of more than 6 million dollars.
Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc says this culvert is the most problematic in a series of culverts through the city.
“The way it works is, you fix the first bottelneck and then you work your way up. Essentially, this culvert has to be fixed first and once that is done, I understand we hope to get two more done next year,” notes LeBlanc.
Many homeowners suffered severe flooding after last December’s historic rainfall when two months’ worth of rain fell in under 24 hours.
Work is expected to begin this fall and wrap up by next summer.
