There’s still a lot of debate going on about the new policy for seniors and how much they contribute for nursing home care.
But what do the nursing homes think about the new laws for their clients?
Liberal MLA for Charlotte-Campobello John Ames held a meeting with nursing home administration from St. Andrews, St. Stephen, McAdam, and Campobello.
Administrator at Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, Lezlie Leblanc says Ames did explain the details, and answered their questions.
She tells us, “I know that I had some family members, before I came to the meeting, that had some specific questions but John did answer them in his presentation, so I think they will be happy with the responses.”
Leblanc says it sounds like it’s going to be a positive thing for current residents, since the potential is there to reduce their daily costs.
Ames claims the province will still save money, even though only 13 percent of New Brunswick seniors are in the higher income bracket and will be contributing a little more to their nursing home care. Meanwhile, many more will be paying less for their nursing home care.
