In the NHL playoffs. it’ll be Pittsburgh against San Jose for the Stanley Cup….Rookie forward Bryan Rust scored both of Pittsburgh’s goals in a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay in Game 7 of the Eastern final. Pittsburgh will host San Jose in the opener Monday night.
In the NBA playoffs, Stephen Curry scored 31 points as Golden State staved off elimination with a 120-111 win over Oklahoma City and now trail the Western final 3 games to 2.
The Saint John Alpines picked up their first win of the season in New Brunswick Senior League baseball with an 8-7 win in extra innings over the Moncton Fisher Cats. Pete Shaw picked up the win while Ron Barton drove in the winning run. The Alpines are back in action Sunday afternoon in Moncton.
In the Majors, Edwin Encarnacion and Devon Travis had two out RBI’s as the Blue Jays behind J.A. (Jay) Happ defeated the Yankees 3-1 to win the three game series……Jackie Bradley Junior’s hitting streak came to an end at 29 games as the Red Sox lost to Colorado 8-2. The Red Sox also retired number 26 which was worn by third baseman Wade Boggs. In other play, it was Pittsburgh 8 Arizona 3…..Miami 9 Tampa Bay 1…..Washington 2 St. Louis 1……Milwaukee 6 Atlanta 2 and Houston 4 Baltimore 2.
