A brief court appearance by Canaport L-N-G, Irving Canaport and Repsol on charges stemming from a massive bird kill in September of 2013.
The three companies are charged with violating the Migratory Birds Convention Act and the Species at Risk Act.
They did not enter any pleas but the prosecution told the court it was giving the defense all the evidence which is quite extensive.
Pleas are expected to be entered at the next court appearance July 30th.
It’s estimated 75 hundred birds were killed when they flew into the flaring at the L-N-G terminal at Mispec. Flaring was shut down after a 45 million dollar upgrade.
Back in 2010, an Alberta court ordered Syncrude Canada to pay 3 million dollars after 16 hundred ducks died at a toxic tailings pond.
