Another long weekend is upon us and unfortunately New Brunswickers are paying more for gasoline.
Senior petroleum analyst Dan McTeague says while most Canadians are paying more for gas this week, Americans are paying far less and are driving the market.
“The fact is Americans have quite an advantage over us when it comes to price not just with taxes but also when it comes to wholesale prices for gasoline… they tend to be a lot less expensive,” he notes.
McTeague also believes Canada does not have enough refineries producing gasoline which has allowed the American market to mostly determine our prices.
