Provincial Economic Development Minister Rick Doucet is accusing the Opposition Conservatives of trying to politicize the bankruptcy of Atlantic Co-Op.
The Conservatives have attacked the governing Liberals for a 7.5 million dollar loan guarantee given to Atlantic Co-Op before it went bankrupt.
Doucet says the Conservatives are being hypocritical because successive provincial governments have invested in Atlantic Co-Op and denounces the attacks as “shameful”.
400 employees with Atlantic Co-Op were laid off including 290 in New Brunswick. Co-Op stores in Moncton and Grand Bay-Westfield were closed.
