The provincial government has set up a Disaster Financial Assistance Program for those property owners, small businesses and municipalities to cover the cost of damage caused by heavy rainfall last December.
You might remember parts of the province were inundated with 200 millimeters of rain over three days causing an estimated $7 million worth of damage.
If you did sustain damage, the province wants you to call your insurance company first to determine if the damage is covered. If it isn’t then you should get in touch with the recovery team at the Emergency Measures Organization to see whether you’re eligible for financial assistance.
