Outgoing Rothesay Mayor Bill Bishop has been involved in municipal politics for over four decades, which is the longest term served in New Brunswick.
Bishop attended his final town council meeting last night after serving as mayor for the past 15 years.
He says recreation has always been a big part of his agenda.
Town Council gave Bishop a standing ovation at the end the meeting and thanked him for his service.
Bishop says he feels a little sad about leaving, but says its time for new faces and ideas come into the town of Rothesay.
The Town of Rothesay will elect its first ever female mayor next month when current Deputy Mayor Nancy Grant runs against long time councillor Pat Gallagher-Jette.
