It is going to be a messy day across much of New Brunswick, with freezing rain for most and heavy rain for some.
A freezing rain warning remains in effect for much of the province, except for Saint John, Kings County and Charlotte County.
Ice accumulation of five to 10 millimetres is expected, with freezing rain lasting for four to eight hours.
Environment Canada states that freezing rain will transition to rain later Monday morning in southern New Brunswick, with northern areas seeing the change by Monday afternoon.
Forecasters said this may lead to travel disruptions, utility outages, and damage to trees.
Rainfall warning
Heavy rain is also forecast for the Fundy coast, including Saint John, Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County, and Fundy National Park.
Rainfall totals of 20 to 40 millimetres are expected from Monday afternoon into Tuesday afternoon.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible, with visibility potentially reduced during heavy downpours, according to Environment Canada.
School closures and bus delays
Most schools closed for the day on Monday due to the freezing rain that fell overnight and was expected to continue on Monday.
The exception is the Anglophone South School District, where buses were running on a one-hour delay.
