You will want to plan ahead if you are heading to uptown Saint John over the next three days.
Sections of two major streets through the uptown core will be closed from Wednesday to Friday.
City officials said a large crane will be operating to support the development of 99 King Street.
As a result, Charlotte Street will be closed from Union Street to King Street, along with King Street from Germain Street to Charlotte Street.
“Access to properties and businesses inside the closed section will be maintained,” the city said in a traffic advisory.
Due to the street closures, Saint John Transit will not be able to service stops on King Street on King’s Square North.
Buses 1E, 3E, 9E, 20, 33, 35, 52, 1W, 3N, 9N, 15W, 21 and 23 will stop and transfer passengers at King Street East between Sydney and Carmarthen streets.
Buses 1W, 3N, 9N, 15W, 23 1E, 3E, 9E, 15S and 23 will stop and transfer passengers on Water Street between Market Square and Princess Street.
As for the detour routes, buses leaving uptown heading north (3N, 9N and 23) and west (1W and 15W) will leave King Street East, turn right on Carmarthen Street, right on to Broad Street along Water Street to St. Patrick Street to their regular route.
Southbound bus 21 will leave King Street East, turn right on Carmarthen Street, right on Duke Street to its regular route
Eastbound buses (1E, 3E, 9E, 33, 35 and 52) leaving King Street East will turn right onto Sydney Street to their regular route.
Northbound bus 20 leaving King Street East will turn right onto Sydney Street to its regular route.
“The detours and temporary stops are the same routes riders used late last year to accommodate the Charlotte Street reconstruction project,” said the city.
Motorists in the area are advised to drive with caution and be aware of increased pedestrian traffic and flaggers in the detour areas.
