A rescue in northern New Brunswick of three snowmobilers who were stranded for around 15 hours.
Reports came in to RCMP at around noon on February 17 of the three individuals stranded on snowmobiles near Upper Tetagouche Lake.
Several factors posed challenges in the rescue, including bad weather and their location.
Assistance was sought from several agencies, including RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick, area fire departments, Justice and Public Safety and the Chaleur Skidoo Club.
There was regular communication between the three individuals and first responders, but there was increasing concern after they said they were feeling weak.
At around 1 p.m., volunteer firefighters were led on snowmobiles for around two-and-a-half hours to the individuals, who had managed to find partial shelter in a nearby ice fishing tent.
By 5:30 p.m., they were brought safely to an area snowmobile club where they were checked over. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
