An overnight fire caused extensive damage to a warehouse building in east Saint John, according to fire officials.
Deputy Chief Ed Moyer said crews were dispatched to the Thorne Avenue building around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday.
Moyer they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a buliding measuring about 100 feet by 50 feet in size.
“Crews went defensive until the fire was knocked down and then advanced hose lines interior to complete the knock down,” Moyer said in a statement to our newsrook.
It took firefighters two hours to get the fire under control and four hours to fully extinguish it, he said.
No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
Thorne Avenue was closed between Frederick Street and Bayside Drive, while Rothesay Avenue was shut down from Frederick Street to Russell Street.
