Eight municipalities in the Maritimes are teaming up to tackle climate change.
The energy companies have created a group called the Maritime Municipal Electric Utility Alliance.
The move will let also let teams share information while maintaining their independence.
The goal is to work together on several issues, like improving power grid efficiency and transitioning to renewable energy.
The full list of municipalities involved includes:
- Saint John Energy, N.B.
- Edmundston Energy, N.B.
- Perth-Andover Electric Light Commission, N.B.
- utilities in the Town of Antigonish, N.S.
- utilities in Mahone Bay, N.S.
- utilities in Riverport, N.S.
- utilities in Berwick, N.S.
- utilities in Summerside, P.E.I.
Glen Fillmore, chair of the group and executive director of Saint John Energy, says the group wants energy to be smarter, cleaner, and more resilient.
