A new judge has been appointed to the Court of King’s Bench in New Brunswick.
Justice Maurice Richard will hear cases in the court’s family division in Moncton.
He replaces Justice Ivan Robichaud, who was elevated to New Brunswick’s Court of Appeal last summer.
Richard most recently served as assistant deputy attorney general of Family Crown Services for the past several years.
He was called to the New Brunswick Law Society in 1998 and has spent most of his legal career focusing on family law.
After having been in private practice for five years, he joined the New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission in 2004 as a lawyer.
That was followed by a move to the New Brunswick Office of the Attorney General as Family Crown Counsel in 2009 before becoming assistant deputy attorney general of Family Crown Services in 2018.
