NB Liquor and Cannabis NB stores are no longer cash-only nearly two weeks after a “potential cyber threat” impacted operations.
The Crown corporation said Sunday that NB Liquor stores were once again accepting debit and credit transactions.
It came one day after Cannabis NB stores began accepting credit and debit cards again on Saturday.
“While full resumption of business activities is ongoing behind the scenes, we are happy to be able to provide additional payment options for our customers again,” a spokesperson said in an email.
“We continue to work with business partners including licensees, suppliers, agent stores, and local producers to assist them with their ordering process and distribution methods.”

CEO Lori Stickles said the corporation’s security controls detected “some anomalies” in their system back on Jan. 7.
Stickles said they made the decision to take own their systems “as a preventative measure” while the investigation progressed.
As a result, NB Liquor was forced to close all of its corporate stores for much of the day on Jan. 8 and 9, although agency stores and grocery stores were not impacted.
The corporation has said there is currently no evidence to suggest that the incident has impacted customer information, although officials have not disclosed details about exactly what happened.
