Saint John police say a gun was fired during an early morning armed robbery on the city’s east side.
Officers responded to the incident at a lounge on Westmorland Road at around 2:20 a.m. Thursday.
A man with a firearm entered the lounge and tried to get money from the cash register.
“During an altercation between the man and another individual in the bar, the firearm was discharged,” police said in a news release.
No serious physical injuries were reported during the incident, according to investigators.
The suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white emblem on the chest. He was seen leaving in a dark-coloured four-door sedan.
The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate and no charges have been laid at this time.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dashcam or video surveillance of the incident.
