The deadline for local government byelection nominations is just days away now.
Sixteen council vacancies need to be filled in communities across the province.
As of late Tuesday, a number of those vacancies currently had no candidates.
That includes vacant council seats in Campobello Island, Fundy-St. Martins, Doaktown and Tracy.
Seats in Riverview, Shediac, Lakeland Ridges and Hanwell are currently uncontested with only one nominated candidate for each race.
Meanwhile, there is high interest in a number of other races throughout the province.
In Saint John, seven people are currently running for a vacant council seat in Ward 3. It was left vacant after David Hickey was elected MLA in the October provincial election.
In Beausoleil, where the mayor resigned in September, three people have put their names forward for the job.
The full list of candidates can be found on Elections NB’s website. The nomination deadline is 2 p.m. Friday.
In communities where an election will be required, voters will head to the polls on Dec. 9.
