St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Lights of Hope campaign in Saint John is making an impact on pediatric patients this winter.
For every $250 raised during the annual campaign, the hospital lights a candle in one of its windows.
“Many patients who access care at St. Joseph’s Hospital will require pediatric equipment in areas like urgent care, diagnostic imaging, primary care, surgery, and the eye clinic,” said Dr. Erin Dohaney, an ophthalmologist.
“For my patients, specifically, it could mean the gift of sight.”
The foundation’s goal was to light 300 candles and raise $75,000 to support priority projects with a focus on supporting our pediatric patients.
It reached that goal last week and continues to collect donations into the new year.
“If we were to exceed the $75,000, it would mean a second wheelchair or additional stethoscopes,” said Andrea Scott, marketing and community engagement coordinator for the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation.
