A tragic ending to the disappearance of a PEI teen.
The search for 17-year-old Tyson Macdonald began on December 14th.
This morning RCMP Superintendent Kevin Lewis updated the investigation, “Last night the RCMP Major Crime Unit arrested two youths in connection with the disappearance and homicide of Macdonald.”
RCMP says as a result of the arrests, human remains were located early Wednesday morning in the area of Milltown Cross in Kings County by the Major Crime Unit and General Investigative Section members.
“They are believed to be those of Tyson Macdonald, although we are awaiting positive identification by the coroner’s office,” Lewis adds.
Charges have yet to be laid, but Lewis says they are expected to include homicide.
Over 60 resources including the RCMP Major Crime Unit, forensic identification, police dog services, and police officers from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia assisted in the investigation and search for Macdonald over the past week. RCMP Atlantic Air Services helicopters were also brought in to help.
