Heavy rain is not something we need in southern New Brunswick, but we could see more of it on Friday.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for areas along the Fundy coast.
That includes Saint John and County, Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County, and Fundy National Park.
Forecasters say a trough of low pressure will bring up to 40 millimetres of rain to the region by Saturday morning.
“There is a possibility of thunderstorms developing this morning which may give higher rainfall rates in heavy downpours for some areas,” the weather agency said, adding rainfall warnings may need to be issued.
“Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions, pooling of water on roadways, and localized flooding in low-lying areas.”
Areas further away from the coast will also see rain over the next 24 hours, though totals will be less significant.
Between 15 and 30 millimetres of rain is forecast for the Kennebecasis Valley and Sussex, while St. Stephen and northern Charlotte County is only expecting around 10 millimetres.
