RCMP have charged a 29-year-old man from Saint-Simon with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man from the community.
Last Thursday around 7 a.m. members of the Caraquet RCMP detachment responded to a call for a well-being check at a home in Saint-Simon.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased 60-year-old man outside of the home.
Police are investigating his death as a homicide.
A 29-year-old man was arrested the same day in connection with the investigation after he fled from the police.
On Tuesday in Bathurst Provincial Court, Philippe Hébert was charged with second-degree murder, resisting arrest, dangerous driving, flight from police and indecently interfering with human remains.
Hébert was held in custody with a future court date.
