An uptown Saint John restaurant has been forced to close until further notice due to major flooding.
The owners of Cask & Kettle Irish Gastropub on Prince William Street posted about the damage on Monday afternoon.
“We have had a major flood in our basement that has risen right up into the restaurant,” they wrote in a Facebook post.
“We are closing up, and once the place is cleaned up, we will do an assessment to see what needs to be done to reopen.”
Video posted to social media showed water pouring out of the uptown business and onto the adjacent sidewalk and street.
Anyone with a reservation will be contacted by restaurant staff this week, said the post.
Meanwhile, the City of Saint John issued an advisory to residents who are walking or driving in the area.
In a tweet, the city said the flood has led to excessive water on the sidewalk and street at that location.
“Roads and sidewalks may become slippery; please use caution if walking or driving in the area,” said the tweet.
