Early risers will get the chance to witness the last total lunar eclipse of the year.
Beginning Tuesday, at 5:09 a.m. (AST), or 4:09 a.m. (EST), the celestial lineup of the Sun, Earth, and the moon will play out.
“The full moon will move into the Earth’s shadow, and slowly over the next hour or so the moon slowly moves into the shadow, gets darker, and turns that beautiful copper orange colour, and then last another hour or so,and eventually move out of the shadow,” mentioned Gary Boyle, the backyard astronomer.
Boyle brought up that the event is quite safe and should last a maximum of three hours and forty minutes.
He added that the next total lunar eclipse for North America will be on March 14, 2025.
“We’ll have a partial eclipse in 2023 and 2024, but only about 20 per cent and 15 per cent of the moon will catch the shadow of the Earth.”
Special equipment is not needed to witness the event on Tuesday, November 8.
