The Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton was the site of a provincial commemorative service for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Monday afternoon service was by invitation only due to limited space, but it was live-streamed online.
Several people spoke during the service including Lieutenant-Governor Brenda Murphy.
“Farewell to a Queen greatly loved for her grace, humanity, and sympathy. For her courage in adversity, for the happiness she brought, for her steadfast pilgrimage of faith, the example of service, and for the duty she rendered to this country, the Commonwealth, and the world.”
Premier Blaine Higgs also spoke and mentioned the Queen’s dedication to faith and duty.
“As we gather to give thanks for the life of God’s servant, Queen Elizabeth II, let us thank God for our faith and her dedication to duty, asking God to bless our province and our nation as we mourn her death.”
A ceremonial gun salute occurred in conjunction with the commemorative service. There was also a procession of honour before the ceremony.
