The third annual September for St. Joe’s will support orthopaedic surgery and the Joint Preservation and Reconstruction Program.
The St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s month-long campaign is seeking to raise $200,000 to enhance equipment for orthopaedic surgery.
“Our goal is to raise $200,000 to provide new technology and equipment for our surgeons so that they can increase the orthopaedic services here at St. Joe’s,” mentioned Laurie Flood, executive director, St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation.
Doctors will use orthoscopy equipment to diagnose a variety of joint conditions, such as shoulder, foot, ankle, knee, elbow, hand, and wrist.
“So, the funds will increase the level of service that we provide to our community and beyond for orthopedics,” mentioned Flood.
Timely surgery can decrease pain and increase mobility, allowing patients to return to normal activities and a healthier lifestyle.
Flood added that several community events are happening across Saint John to help raise awareness and to promote the campaign.
“Also, various restaurants have QR codes on their tables, posters displayed helping to support the campaign.”
“As well, the Trojans rugby team are going to collect donations at the door of their games,” added Flood.
