An uplifting festival makes its return to the town of Sussex.
The 35th annual Atlantic Balloon Fiesta was put on hold for two years due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the event will make its return to the area from Sept. 9 to 11.
Event planning is underway as organizers expect roughly 30 hot air balloons to rise to the sky.
“We have hot air balloon pilots that come from all over North America and beyond, and we have received messages over the last couple of years saying that they cannot wait to come back to the Sussex area, fly in our skies, and see our valleys,” said Committee Member Alannah Pearson.
Pilots will take off twice a day, once in the morning, and then again in the evening.
“Also, later in the evening after the balloon take off and they come back, we will have what we call a moon glow, so once it gets dark and the sun goes down we have the balloons inflate again and they stay right on the field, but they light and there’s music,” mentioned Pearson.
The event has more to offer, Pearson added there are other activities for visitors to enjoy.
“Throughout the festival, we have all sorts of activities going on, such as an indoor market, outdoor vendors, a bandstand that runs all weekend long, kids activities, and amusement rides.”
